what is the hrc of the back of the modern steel saw its color is silver and the body is curved i am thinking of making a japanese kodachi katana from it any tips on if it needs to be hardened, tempered, annealed ^_^ i have a gas kitchen range oven a candle lit and wood i dont know if wood would be a good fuel or not and i have vegetable oil
it is very flexible as well

Your saw is most likely one of two types, plain carbon steel or stainless. The former would be easy to work, but malleable as heck (it needs to be flexible and so behaves like a thin spring). The latter would be hard to work but stronger. If it’s a high carbon steel, and one with hardening elements like chromium and molybdenum, there’s not much blacksmithery to do to it to make it "better". You could temper and anneal the stiffer steel all you want, but any performance change would be undetectable.

As for geometry, a good katana has a decent back to maintain stiffness in all directions. A hand held saw is designed for fluidity and slipperiness. In all honesty, I think it would be the worst material to start with.

I’m going to have a go gallon above ground pond that will have about two small common goldfish, male guppies, some tadpoles, and a few snails What plants would be best? I live in Pa , but I will take the pond down when it gets colder. I also want it to me more natural w/o a filter. I need a good online store.
:]
Thanks. Tips are nice too.

HAPPY EASTER from the Minions!

Despicable Me – In Theaters April 9th
www.despicable.me

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden deep beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by an army of tireless, little yellow minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universals new 3-D CGI feature, Despicable Me.

Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.

One of the worlds greatest super-villains has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

my friends dad caught a painted turtle in his casting net by accident. i have been taking care of him since then. i need to know where to buy pond plants for him. if you could help me please choose the best answer. thank you for taking your time on my question.

Why not get them free from a pond ……………………………………………….

Makita 7 1/4 inch. I worked as a site joiner for 10 years and this was my circular saw all that time. It got an absolute hammering and never let me down-in fact I still have it in the shed, still workig perfectly. Change the blade when it gets blunt to ease strain on the motor and a Makita saw will never let you down. Don’t be tempted by DeWalt tools, they are made by the same firm that owns Black & Decker, and while they are a decent power tool, Makita are far superior

spray with WD40 – it will be fine

like what act scene and line is it?

It’s Act II, Scene II – He is speaking to Rosencrantz & Guildenstern

The door is solid wood.

It’s possible with either. The handsaw will be a ridiculous amount of work especially if it’s an old solid wood door. The jigsaw won’t be too bad, but have an extra blade or two for that old solid wood door and make sure you have a blade long enough to cut through the whole thickness easily. Old wood gets hard and can wear out a jigsaw blade pretty fast. A skilsaw is really best if you have one, and I say that as someone who hates using them.

The heavy kind. Is it just like wood?

Like the others have said, it’s best if you can find a saw that has a real fine toothed blade to it. Hacksaws work real well for this.

If you have the equipment though, I usually use a chop saw or a Sawzall Reciprocating saw to make real short work of it. I wrap the pipe in tape where I’m going to go through, and it helps keep a nice line and prevents against having a lot of burred edges afterwards :)
