Where would I find a park in Melbourne that has a water feature, is quiet and has not a lot of people around? Perfect for a picnic.

Requirments:
- water feature or something alone those lines
- open grass
- not many people around

My first suggestion would be The Royal Botanical Gardens. There’s a huge lake. And although a lot of people visit the gardens (especially on the weekends), there’s more than enough room for everyone wanting a picnic by the lake.

Another choice is anywhere along the banks of the Yarra. There are plenty of places along Alexandra Avenue with big shady trees and fabulous views of the city skyline. There are even electric coin barbecues you can use.

Finally, there is a lovely little *lake* in the Carlton Gardens.
