UR right about the raised beds , i made mine 5 ft wide , then found i could not get to the middle without putting my foot on it which kinda spoilt the whole thing . 4 foot is heaps wide enough .

Doesn’t look like a well designed garden – Raised beds should be small enough to walk around rather than stand in. Up to 4 foot wide is a good, allowing for all gardening tasks to be performed from outside the raised bed. One of the benefits of a proper raised bed – you will not compact the soil.

Well indirectly thats what you might do . if the stuff gets into the ground water it may well get absorbed by your garden plants anyway. and if it gets into the river it could get into your mains water and from there via your sprinkler onto your plants or worse still into your coffee. Wouldn’t it make more sense to preserve the shingles with something less toxic?
