I have a Resistant Materials exam on Monday and the theme is hand garden tools, so we’ve been asked by our teacher to research things that need to be taken into consideration when making them. I have already got some advantages, but not many disadvantages, except one: expensive setup costs. Please help! Thanks :)
My teacher isn’t helpful; he hasn’t given us any information at all. We do this subject as an extra GCSE after school, but the other teacher in the department has been really helpful; he’s told us that we will need to know what materials garden tools are made out of and why they use those materials, how they are ergonomic e.g. comfort grip handle, what their functions are, what features they have e.g. lightweight, durable, and also we will need to be able to design an interchangeable garden tool, like a tool with 3 attachments (say a trowel, small fork and a small rake) so each one can be screwed on and off easily…hope that helps :)

Well there are tons of disadvantages to consider! The material quality and how easy it is to use them are extremely important to the consumer. The manufacturer will need to consider the safety of the product for regular families. I hope these were helpful and gave you some ideas for more!

I’ve got that exam too. My teacher hasn’t been helpful with this exam at all! What sort of things do we need to know??

EDIT:
Thanks for the help! :)

I’ve thought of an advantage: because of the economic downfall and everything more people could be buying interchangeable hand tools to save money.

Disadvantage: hand garden tools are not selling as much as they used to so the manufacture is losing business – not sure about that one

But thanks again for the help!
